If you’re inspired by painting distinctive landscapes, this workshop invites you to fully immerse yourself in the hidden backroads of Italy’s Tuscan–Emilian mountains. Led by award winning artist, Emiliano Marini, Vista and Hue offers an unforgettable week of Plein Air painting in breathtaking settings far removed from typical tourist routes.

Our two home bases—Fiumalbo and Barga—are charming, historic villages perfectly positioned to showcase the dramatic beauty of the High Apennines. From the peaceful heights of San Pellegrino in Alpe at 5,000 feet, to the crystal-clear mountain lake of Lago Santo Modenese, you’ll set up your easel before sweeping views of rolling peaks, rivers, lakes, and postcard-worthy scenery.

We’ll wander among quaint villages surrounded by majestic mountain scenery. Every session is crafted to spark creativity, deepen your skills, and provide a truly memorable artistic adventure.

Emiliano will offer expert technical instruction and personalized guidance to help you capture the true spirit of each panoramic scene. With years of experience painting the enchanting vistas of his homeland—and teaching others to do the same—Emiliano brings both artistic mastery and an infectious passion for the Italian landscape. You’ll also have the opportunity to view a selection of his remarkable works for inspiration.

Throughout the workshop, we’ll explore ancient stone villages perched dramatically on mountainsides, wander through medieval castles, and visit a thousand-year-old bridge in Tuscany. Our journey begins in one historic village, --Fiumalbo, Emilia Romagna, and concludes in another--Barga, Tuscany--both proudly recognized by the Italian Association of "I Borghi più belli d’Italia" as among the most beautiful villages in the country.
